As director of offshore substations for Kiewit Power Engineers, Katie provides oversight and direction for all offshore substation projects, from project development, conceptual design, estimating and detailed design to integration with procurement, construction and commissioning. Katie started with Kiewit in 2009 as an electrical engineer and has experience serving multiple markets with engineering, procurement and construction and management of personnel and departments. Prior to her current role, she served as industrial estimating electrical manager, founding the electrical and controls estimating department within Kiewit’s emerging industrial market. On the Lackawanna Energy Center Combined Cycle project, which included design of the first-of-its-kind-in-the-U.S. auxiliary power system, Katie acted as the electrical Engineer of Record and managed a design team of over 30 personnel. Many of her projects have won awards, including ABC’s Excellence in Construction Eagle Award, ENR’s Best of the Best and POWER Magazine’s Top Plant Award. Katie earned a B.S. in electrical and electronics engineering from University of Missouri Kansas City in 2010. She is a registered professional engineer (i.e., Kansas, Pennsylvania).
